習合とは様々な宗教の神々や教義などの一部が混同ないしは同一視される現象のことである。
日本では1400年程前、神仏習合という大きな習合を経て現代までそれを受け継いでいる。
排除して整理するのではなく、曖昧な状態を受け入れて成立させる独特な感覚は、現代において最も大切なことを示しているのではないだろうか。
彼は母国である日本という国の特異なありさまを作品を通して表現する。
